This qualification is suitable for those who have good workplace skills and experience who wish to deliver training and assessment in a vocational education and training (VET) context. The TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment comprises of 10 units of competency.  This is a substantial qualification and is well regarded by industry.

The changing needs of our clients means we have restructured our training strategies to deliver more flexibility via a blended model – a mix of self paced distance learning, one to one coaching and in class (Group Bookings only- call office to discuss). Learning Outcomes

Successful completion will mean you can:

Read and understand Units of Competency and use them as bench marks

Design training using nationally recognised training specifications

Design and deliver training for groups

Use design principles and the adult learning principles to create and deliver engaging training that meets the learning objectives

Facilitate learning in the workplace and provide work skill instruction

Create assessment tools, conduct assessment using validated benchmarks that conform with the Principles of Assessment

Understand how to make an assessment judgement that meets the Rules of Evidence.


As a Certificate IV course, the literacy requirements are significant. If you are not sure if you can manage the full Certificate you can begin your studies by doing a Skill Set. A Skill Set is a collection of two or more units of competency. You can then move on to the full course.

The Enterprise Trainer – Presenting Skill Set $450.00

This is a good way to spread the cost of the course too. From here the Full Certificate will not be so daunting and theses payments will be deducted from the whole course cost.

When you enrol in our TAE 40116 Course – you will complete an initial course induction, by phone, with your Trainer. Self paced learning and attending coaching days during the first 6 months will provide support to your learning and to complete your assignments. Coaching days will be posted on the website and you may attend as many of these as you choose to suit your roster or work commitments. You will need to book you place by calling our office.

2. RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING.  Are you an experienced workplace Trainer?  RPL requires the collection of evidence on a unit by unit basis. We recognise your previous learning on the job. Recognition of Prior Learning includes questions to confirm your knowledge and guidance in the provision of the necessary practical evidence. Training in the gaps in your knowledge and skills is extra.

The course is self paced so you can work as hard as you like to finish. The volume of learning is such that 6 months is the norm for those with busy lifestyles. However Recognition of Prior Learning and being familiar with how vocational educational and training works in the workplace will help shorten the period you spend studying.

Amount of Training

We create an individual learning plan for you based on your goals, prior knowledge and work commitments. The time taken to complete the course varies enormously between students because of this. This is a substantial qualification that once successfully completed carries significant legal responsibilities. You will be responsible for training and assessing the next generation of workers. Their safety and skill level depends on you doing a good job.

Will I pass?

There is no guarantee with competency based training. It’s up to you. We will provide you with quality learning material, practice based face to face training, one to one coaching and contextualising to your future training role BUT you must do the reading, take feedback, research the internet and make a commitment to work consistently on your assessments. This partnership is generally successful and the results are good. When you get your Certificate you will be confident that you have the skills and knowledge to perform well as a Trainer/Assessor or Training Coordinator.
